Welcome to 1st Grade!
Hello! My name is Kim Pedigo and welcome to Saint Michael’s First Grade, where students are provided a creative and warm environment that fosters learning. I absolutely love to see children reach their potential as learners and blossom as readers! My class provides many opportunities for students to develop their math, science, and social studies skills through cross-curricular activities. My goal is to provide a place where students feel accepted and loved while engaging in learning!
Education has been my passion for years and I fortunately have had experiences to learn from educators of different backgrounds- private, inner city, rural and homeschool. I acquired my degree in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky University, followed by my M.Ed. from Miami University. While studying at Miami University, I developed an understanding of elementary education and learning through “doing”. Homeschooling allowed me to pursue training for implementing Orton Gillingham models of reading instruction. My experiences of teaching first grade in Covington Independent Schools, fourth grade at RULH and being an RTI resource teacher strengthened my understanding of reading strategies. Regardless of the setting I have found that the most important aspect of teaching is guiding children to reach their full potential.
My husband, Ben, and I have been married and residents of Brown County for over 30 years and have three children. All three are University of Cincinnati Bearcats. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful husband and children; family means everything to me! In my free time I enjoy tent camping, especially in Michigan, hiking, and cooking. I also enjoy listening to my favorite band, “The Pedigos,” at Brown County music events.
I am grateful to be a part of the Saint Michael School family and am so proud to be a fellow Knight! I have enjoyed the collaborative spirit and willingness of staff and families to offer a helping hand or kind word.
