We are still waiting for final word on the state budget, but we did receive an update from the Ohio Department of Education yesterday, and all of our parents need to be ready for what is coming.
It looks like families whose income is within 450% of the national poverty level will be eligible for a full scholarship. This is the reference for family size and 450%.
- Family of 3- $88,790
- Family of 4- $111,870
- Family of 5- $158,000
- Family of 6- $181,260
- Family of 7- $204,390
Again, anyone who meets the above guidelines will be eligible for a full scholarship.
Also, there will be partial scholarships awarded to families whose incomes are higher than this. To quote ODE, "There is no cut off of household income level of the federal poverty guidelines to receive a scholarship" These guidelines have not yet been set, but once they are, we will communicate them to everyone, and determine what portion of tuition, for which each family will be responsible.
To summarize, ALL Ohio residents who have students in K-12 will be eligible for AT LEAST partial scholarships. So, ALL OF OUR OHIO FAMILIES with student in K-8 should apply. I outlined the process in the story from June 21. Parish financial support will not be available for families who are eligible for Edchoice.
The Edchoice portal will close July 1, so if you do not have your information turned in to the office by tomorrow, you will have to wait likely until late July to turn in your documents.
I will post more information as I receive it. This is BIG news for SMS and for our families. Please make sure you take advantage of this incredible opportunity. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions.
