Today the kindergartners joined the preschool, first and second grades and traveled to the Kentucky Gateway Museum in Maysville, KY. They enjoyed looking at a collection of thousands of 1/12 scale miniatures, listening to the book The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and then choosing a wooden animal that was a part of the nativity story and seeing how many of their chosen animal they could find in an enormous collection of Nativity scenes, learning about dinosaurs and a bit of a history of their discovery, and looking at artifacts that had been unearthed in the Maysville area. But their favorite part of the trip was exploring the exhibit “Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice” where they were told that, unlike most museums, they could touch everything, including climbing on the dinosaurs!
