On behalf of everyone at St. Michael School, Happy Thanksgiving! We hope everyone has a wonderful break. Today we carried out our tradition of the SMS Thanksgiving Lunch (which was free of charge to our students). Special thanks to Mrs. Seip and all the parent and grandparent volunteers who helped prepare the meal. Thanks to our staff who served the meal to our students. We will have pictures out later, but this is always a great day at SMS, full of memories.
For those who like to plan ahead, here is what 's going on when we return on Monday, December 2:
Monday-Wednesday should be routine. On Thursday, the entire school will be bussed in groups to the Gaslight Theater in Georgetown to prepare for the Christmas concert. Everyone should have received permission slips yesterday. If you did not return them today, please send them in Monday morning!
Friday is First Friday, so we will have Mass at 8:15, with adoration to follow. Friday is also the feast day of St. Nicholas, who will be here to visit with our students on Friday.
Sunday, December 8 is our annual Christmas Concert at the Gaslight Theater in Georgetown. The show will begin at 3:00pm. Students should wear Sunday best, and arrive at 2:30.
Tutoring: When we return December 2, we will start up free, after school tutoring sessions for any student in grades K-8. These are the days and staff that will be available for tutoring:
Mondays- Mrs. Burrows, Mr. Arn (3:00-5:00)
Tuesdays- Mr. Hyde, Mrs. Wallace, Mr. Arn (3:00-5:00)
Wednesdays- Mrs. Burrows, Miss Kacy, Mr. Arn (3:00-5:00)
Thursdays- Mr. Hyde, Mrs. Wallace, Mr. Arn (3:00-5:00)
If you are interested, please call the school office, or email Mr. Arn in advance so we know who is going to be staying. We will try to keep groups relatively small, so first come, first serve.
Reminders:
Permission slips for 5-8 grade trip to "It's a Wonderful Life" came home in white folders yesterday. PLEASE send them back Monday if you didn't today.
Everyone should have their first ten SMS $10K Giveaway tickets. I know several of you have already sold those and asked for more. Great job! Remember everyone is responsible for AT LEAST ten tickets.
We will have Mass on Monday December 9 for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Christmas Spirit Week is December 16-20. More details to come!
The School Spelling Bee is Wednesday, December 17, in the Parish Hall after lunch.
We will dismiss at 12:30 on Friday December 20.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Paper Pie Card Fundraiser. We raised about $1,000 for SMS!
We have begun selling tickets at the weekend masses for the painting "Glory to God in the Highest" donated by Phil and Hazel Germann. The painting is valued at over $650 and raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. They are available in the school office. The drawing will be held on Friday, December 20 at school.
Gobble, Gobble! See you next week!
