Good morning SMS Families! We hope you are having a great weekend, and looking forward to the Christmas Concert at the Gaslight Theater in Georgetown today at 3:00 pm. Students should wear Sunday best, and SGTMAJ Kokensparger's Canjo players have been given special instructions as to what they should wear.
We have two weeks left before Christmas break, and still have a lot to accomplish before then! Here's what's going on this week.
Monday is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Holy Day of obligation. We will be in school as usual, but students should go to the school in the morning as we will have school mass at 8:15.
On Tuesday, four more of our eighth graders will work with Mrs. Seip in the lunch room helping to prepare lunch, as part of our grant with the Ohio Beef Council.
On Wednesday, our 5-8 grades will travel to the Opera House in Maysville to watch the Maysville Player's production of "It's a Wonderful Life". Permission slips were sent out the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Friday will be a normal Friday schedule, with Mass beginning at 8:15am, and on Saturday our 3, 5-8th grade choir with Mrs. Groh will be performing at the Methodist Church.
Next week, our last week before break, we will be celebrating "Christmas Week"!
We are off to a great start with our ticket sales for the SMS $10K Giveaway. Please don't forget to sell (or lose) your tickets. We have had several families ask for more, some selling over 50! If everyone does their part we might have a record year! If you need more, please let us know in the office.
We will be drawing for the raffle for the painting "Glory to God in the Highest" donated by Phil and Hazel Germann. The painting will be available for viewing and we will be selling tickets for this raffle today at the concert, and they will be available in the school office all the way up to December 20.
Please make sure students are dressed appropriately for the weather. We must be outside every day, whether transitioning to classes, or walking to the Hall or Church, If anyone needs help with a coat, please contact me and we will help. We have had several families offer if anyone needs a coat. In fact if any of our families needs help in this coming Christmas season, please do not hesitate to let us know.
