How is it March?! Buckle up, because we are getting to that time of year where it seems things start to speed up, and before you know it, it will be May. It's been great getting back to a normal schedule here, that consistency, and stacking days are so important, and I am already seeing the benefits in my Algebra class.

Congratulations to all of our young scientists who represented SMS at the Brown County Science Fair last weekend. At the elementary school level, we don't get many opportunities for interscholastic competition, and we are proud of our student's accomplishments. Special congratulations to Josie Sentney who won first place in the entire county for sixth grade. We also had a clean sweep in 8th grade, winning both 1st place- Makynli Hauke, and runner-up- Elli Hedges. Several of our 5-8th graders are moving on to compete at the Regional Science Fair at UC. Great job Mrs. Hamilton, Ms. Kacy, Mrs. Ashton and the SMS scientists!

Tomorrow, Friday February 28, Mrs. Amber Noel who does an outstanding job volunteering to put together our school yearbook, will be on campus taking candid photos for our website update and yearbook. Please make sure students are wearing their best uniforms and hair is the way you would want it to look in a yearbook photo.

Lent begins this week Wednesday with Ash Wednesday. We will have mass on that day. All students will have the opportunity to receive ashes on the forehead as sign of humility and a reminder that we should repent our sins and turn to God.

We are ONE WEEK away from the first SMS Fish Fry. Orders have been made, the menu is on our FB Page. Please share it, and help get the word out about our biggest fundraiser. If you have not yet signed up for your shifts, you can do that here.

The first $1,000 drawing will also happen at that first fish fry. We can sell tickets all the way up to the $10,000 drawing on April 11, but you have the most chances to win the earlier you get those tickets in. If you have not turned in your original 10 yet, please do so asap. So far we have raised a profit of over $5200, but have a long way to reach our goal. We still need to sell around 1,000 tickets, and there are about 1500 tickets still out there. Huge thank you to those of you who have gone above and beyond. Some of you have sold over 100 tickets! When we get all of these back in this will once again, be one of our greatest fundraisers. Thanks for all you do!

I am sure that some of you noticed that the retaining wall by the Parish Hall collapsed last night. The wall was only three years old and we are currently trying to determine the cause. In the meantime, we will still be able to use the Hall for lunch and classrooms, but we will walk around to the front doors to access the Hall, until that area has been secured. I just wanted to keep you all in the loop.
