communion

On Tuesday, April 1st, excitement and faith will fill the air as second-graders, who are preparing for their  First Communion, gather for Jesus Day, a special retreat designed to prepare their hearts for receiving the Eucharist. The retreat, held after school from 3:00 to 5:30 PM, will provide a meaningful and engaging experience centered on deepening their understanding of Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist.

The afternoon will be filled with hands-on activities, prayer, and reflection. Students will hear the story of the Last Supper, participate in a church tour to learn about the altar and sacred vessels, and practice receiving Communion with reverence. A highlight of the retreat will be a visit to the Blessed Sacrament for a quiet moment of prayer, helping the children connect personally with Jesus.

To reinforce their learning, the children will create a special First Communion craft and enjoy a snack inspired by the Last Supper. The retreat will conclude with a blessing and a small keepsake to remind them of their journey toward this important sacrament.

Jesus Day promises to be a beautiful step in these young Catholics’ faith formation, helping them prepare with joy and devotion for the moment they will receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.
