I would like to wish everyone a blessed Holy Week. I am attaching this week's church bulletin for the schedule of the week's events.
Please remember we will be out of school on Good Friday, and will return on Wednesday, April 23.
Anyone who would like to help with items for the 5th-8th grade dance, you can sign up here.
On Tuesday, April 15, our 7th and 8th grade students will take the SMS bus to the Moran Farm to fire off the rockets they have been working on in science class with Judge Zachman. Permission slips came home yesterday.
On Holy Thursday, students in grades P-4 will watch the Animated Passion, while students in grades 5-8 will be viewing Mel Gibson's, "The Passion of the Christ". This is a powerful film that graphically depicts the sacrifice that Jesus made for us all in our story of salvation. Due to the graphic nature of this film, we will send home permission slips for grades 5-8.
We had a few more families turn in EdChoice paperwork and registration forms this week. If you have not yet completed any of those, please do so soon.
MAP testing is scheduled for may 6, 7, and 13. Please avoid scheduling appointments for those dates if possible.
Kona Ice will be here on Friday, April 25. Consider it part of our Easter celebration!
First communion for our 2nd graders is scheduled for Sunday April 27. Please join me in praying for them as they prepare for this most Holy Sacrament!
Finally, as we head into the final fish fry and $10K drawing, I would like to thank so many of you who made this a record breaking year. It occurred to me that most people might not understand the importance of our fundraising. Our cost to educate a child at SMS is roughly $8,300. Our tuition is currently $6,166, and we do all we can to keep every cost down for our families by pursuing grants and any other funding available to keep our tuition affordable for our families. In these two fundraisers we have raised about $500 for each of our students. So again thank you for your efforts, and know that those efforts raised that money for each of our students. So many of you sold 30 or more tickets. Even more worked more shifts than you had to. You got the word out and invited people to the fish fry, and stepped up in so many other ways that benefitted our children and our school. The incredible generosity of so many of you is truly inspiring, and a great example for our children. And personally, I appreciate you all, it means a lot to know we are all in this together. Please accept my heartfelt thank you. Now, we have one more! Let's make it an unbelievable night!
